Rituals: How I Spend My New Years Day

A women stands on the Q Train platform in brooklyn

The last few years I've had a ritual of waking up early on New Years day and doing a little bit of all the things I want my year to be about...
I wake up at 7am to travel to the beach to be surrounded by earth, ocean, wind and life. To see a horizon line and remember that the future is wide open and that where I go is up to me. I make sure to take photographs, to read a book, to learn about something new, to eat some good food and have a good glass of wine. I spend a little time with family, a little time with friends and a little time by myself. I exercise and I do some work. Most importantly I spend the day listening to myself.

These are some images from this morning

What are your New Years day rituals, I'd love to know?

Happy New Years to you all, and thank you for your support in 2014, looking forward to a great year!
